Vacancy Announcement: Director, Capacity Development

UNDP IS SEEKING A GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED EXPERT

as

DIRECTOR, CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT, based in New York

Capacity Development is at the core of UNDP’s mission to support countries achieve human development. UNDP is a global leader in this regard, working on the transformation and development of capable and resilient institutions.

  1. The Director will be responsible for leading UNDP's global engagement and advocacy on capacity development, while integrating theory and field evidence into practical applications for transformational change of institutions.
  2. With capacity development being a fundamental element to ensure that progress is both sustainable and nationally owned, the Director will ensure effective integration of capacity development throughout UNDP's work with particular focus on the Millennium Development Goals and Climate Change.
  3. The Director of the Capacity Development Group is expected to manage a team of innovative policy experts in New York and six regional centres.

Requirements

  1. Candidates must have an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) and 15-20 years of professional development experience.
  2. Leadership and management abilities should be clearly demonstrated, in addition to the capacity to communicate, innovate and inspire.
  3. Excellent command of English, including strong drafting and speaking skills. Full working knowledge of French or Spanish an advantage.
