Request for Inputs for UNFPA's SSC Strategy

Dear All,

UNFPA is in the process of reviewing and updating its South-South Cooperation Strategy. This strategy will provide the overall guidance and the Fund wide response in strengthening the agency’s role in South-South and triangular cooperation.

For this purpose, UNFPA is organizing a global consultation to foster an open dialogue with other UN agencies, governments, development partners, civil society and non-governmental organizations on the complementarities, specificities, challenges and opportunities of SSC for capacity development in implementing International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action.

We would welcome information from this network on possible CSOs and NGOs actively engage in promoting ICPD goals and MDGs through SSC. Responses to the following questions would be especially welcome:

1. How can the global South seize this opportunity to forge a new and more inclusive paradigm that secures faster and more sustainable development for all citizens? What is the role and added value of CSOs?

2. How do you monitor and evaluate South-South and triangular cooperation? Could you describe the methods and processes for effective M& E? What are some specific indicators that have been useful?

3. What lessons have you learned from efforts to scale up South-South initiatives? What is the role of multilateral institutions?

4. What are some of the essential capacities necessary for effective management of knowledge platforms on South-South and triangular Cooperation?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
