Hi everyone!  I'm hoping that I can get some feedback and ideas from this wonderful group.  I work for a Chilean government institution that is responsible for poverty alleviation matters.  We are looking to get into the area of Public Private partnerships in order to involve more actors in poverty reduction programs, but we would first like to investigate and read up on similar initiatives that have proved to be successful in other countries.  So far we have two ideas:  (1) working with private companies to develop inclusive businesses and (2) working "territorialy."  What I mean by this is that there are many companies (such as mining and timber companies) that are interested in somehow engaging and aiding the communities in their immediate surroundings but they don't know how because there is no one to articulate the needs of the communities, and sometimes schools get built when what was needed was a hospital!  So the idea there would be to articulate the needs of the community with what the private companies can offer.  We are interested in working both with companies and civil society organizations.

These are just two ideas that have risen within the institution, but we are definitely open to any others that may be proposed.  If anyone has specific examples of other countries where the government has has implemented public private partnership is areas of social protection, I would REALLY appreciate any resources on this topic.  I have seen MANY examples of PPP in areas such as infrastructure, etc. but not so much in social areas. If we find examples in other countries that could be applicable here, in the future it might even be possible to create a cooperation program in order to "import" these experiencies to Chile.

Bueno, nuevamente, mil gracias y buen fin de semana para todos!
