Keep this network alive!
I am one of the very few people from this network who were able to travel to Busan. Thanks to the IADB’s generous (and unusually non bureaucratic) support, suddenly I joined the most important stakeholders of the development circle in the South Korean port city: Hillary Clinton, Ban Ki Moon, Michelle Bachelet, Angel Gurría, Alison Evans, and even the Queen of Jordan. Sure, a great event, and sure, I…

New Faces in the OECD Crowd: "Partner" Participation and the Prospects for South-South Cooperation
Dear colleagues,
I wrote a couple of short pieces about HLF4 held in Busan a couple of weeks ago. They are posted on the Global Economic Governance Programme website: http://www.globaleconomicgovernance.org/
One deals specifically with "partner" participation in the OECD/DAC as well as the achievements of, and prospects for South-South and triangular cooperation:…

IPEA / WB. Bridging the Atlantic Brazil and Sub-Saharan Africa: South–South Partnering for Growth
FOREWORD
Africa and Brazil were united by geography eons ago and by shared history since the sixteenth century, when they were linked by the transatlantic slave trade until slavery’s abolition. A hiatus in relations developed until African countries gained political independence, when a new relationship began to develop between Brazil and especially the Lusophone African countries. With Brazil’s rise as one of the world’s largest economies and with the advent of strong growth…

Reflection from HLF-4 – Spot Light on New Development Partners
Much of the discussion at the HLF-4 in Busan last week, as well in the months leading up to the event, was focused on forging consensus around a new global development cooperation partnership framework that would accommodate the interests and unique cooperation modalities of new partners such as China, Brazil, and India. The agreement by these and other new development actors to sign on to the HLF-4…

Notes on a south-south success in Busan
After three very intense days of a paramount global encounter in which a significant number of partners involved in the south-south opportunity participated, Busan came to a rather positive close last Thursday. Many big shots (among which Ban Ki-moon, Hillary Clinton, Angel Gurria, Paul Kagame, Queen Rania of Jordan, Lee Myung-bak, Brian Atwood and the directors and presidents of most national cooperation agencies) converged from all over the world in the port city to define the terms of a…
