Having just participated in the UNDP South-South Cooperation Expo, I was struck at the distance between the political debate and the practical application. While the event was aimed at focusing on South-South solutions, there seemed to be few concrete enabling mechanisms available on display (and even fewer directly available to those attending as 'solution providers' - JICA directly funds SSC, the World Bank has the South-South Experience Exchange Trust Fund, and the new initiative S-S Gate might have potential. Hopefully there are more - anyone care to enlighten me? But the point is, in the debate on SSC and Aid Effectiveness, it's important to note that in order for SSC to be able to contribute to aid effectiveness, there must be effective and efficient mechanisms in place to support it.
