The Government of Colombia will be hosting a High level Event on South South Cooperation and Capacity Development on March 24-26, 2010.
1. OBJECTIVES OF THE HIGH LEVEL EVENT
a) Provide and share evidences. The meeting aims to show what partner countries and international organizations are doing regarding SSC and what have they learned. The HLE will take an evidence-based approach in order to deepen knowledge and analysis of key relevant issues by sharing experiences of SSC in the context of aid effectiveness, including those specifically contributing to capacity development (CD), modalities such as triangular cooperation, and country level processes.
b) Strengthen southern voices in the aid effectiveness context: The meeting expects to boost the voice of partner countries, as both providers and recipients, within the global aid architecture, showing their practical contributions to an inclusive global development agenda. This includes consolidating regional perspectives and building on inputs from regional processes, in order to influence the effectiveness agenda and enrich the 2011 Korea High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness preparatory process.
c) Define major actions to be followed: The meeting is expected to generate consensus on specific actions to be implemented, in order to implement those agreements enshrined in the Accra Agenda for Action particularly those corresponding to paragraphs 19 and 14b, and accelerating the exchange and peer learning processes between partner countries and international/regional organizations.
